Compensation: $120,000-$160,000/yr

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The VP, Product Development is Growcentia’s lead scientist and will drive the operational product development activities of Growcentia’s Product Development team. This person will work closely with other functional areas to translate customer requirements into applicable product requirements and development plans; oversee development of products, coordinate projects in their scope, schedule, resources and budget, support plant trials team and other activities in compliance with regulatory, scientific, and legislative standards and requirements.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be responsible for product vision and innovation, road map, roll out, and education.
  • Lead product development from initial inception to final product. Ensure that products meet the brand standards as well as consumer needs.
  • Help Growcentia determine key products that require increased focus and effort for increasing top line and bottom-line objectives as well as efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Partner with external and internal stakeholders to understand success metrics related to key product responsibilities.
  • Seeking to Change the Way the World Grows, while providing customer profitability by applying scientifically driven microbial products.
  • Ensure that all regulatory and internal policies are followed.
  • Implement appropriate SOP’s and assure SOP’s and GLP compliance.
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and participate in the overall strategic direction of the company
  • Foster and maintain expectations of compliance with quality, safety, confidentiality, and corporate integrity standards/policies.
  • Develop budget for functional areas, manage and allocate resources and monitor expenditures.
  • Establish and leverage strategic relationships with CRO and academia to access emerging innovations.

  • Write and/or review technical documents (internal reports, external disclosures, regulatory documents etc.)
  • Manage the R&D, Product Evaluation and Regulatory teams
  • Hire, train, develop, evaluate, and terminate staff as necessary, in accordance with company policies and federal/state regulations
  • Assure appropriate communications of project status and issues.
  • Pioneer, adapt and overcome roadblocks that inhibit success
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thorough knowledge of product development strategy life cycles
  • Deep understanding and expertise in microbiology, fermentation, manufacturing science and technology
  • Experience developing biological products for the cannabis, garden, horticulture and agriculture markets

EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION

  • Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Genetics or something similar. PhD preferred
  • 10+ years of product management experience with experience in microbial, cannabis or agricultural markets a plus.
  • Successful track record of product line management.
  • Experience as a member of an Executive Leadership Team
  • Exposure to and participation in board meetings

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, and drive a car. While the job duties are not hazardous or strenuous, sometimes the work is performed under pressure when there is a heavy flow of activity or under stress of deadlines. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.
